A message from Mr. Timothy McCorkell, Superintendent of Schools,

March 23, 2020

I hope this message finds all of you safe and healthy in these very difficult times. At the direction of the New Jersey Department of Education, Monmouth County Vocational School District was tasked with developing a remote learning preparedness plan. This plan was to be executed if it became necessary to close schools for health and safety reasons.I want to commend the administrators and teaching staff who worked so diligently to create and then operationalize this plan in a matter of days. They took a public education model that had existed for well over 200 years, and re-cast into a functional virtual model.  It was an impossible task yet it was accomplished thanks to their dedication. The remote instructional plan is being implemented; students are "attending" and advancing their learning online.

On Friday, March 13, after consultation with the Department of Education and Health Department, I took the precautionary step to close schools for the purpose of remote learning through Friday, March 27, 2020. On Monday, March 16, 2020, Governor Murphy ordered that all public, parochial and private schools be closed until it is deemed safe for re-opening. Since this order supersedes my March 13 directive, all Monmouth County Vocational Schools will remain closed until further guidance from the Governor. In addition, in support of Governor Murphy's "stay-at-home" Executive Order No. 107, all MCVSD campus locations will be closed to non-essential district employees.

I want to take a moment to thank all of the students, parents, teachers, support staff and administrators for the level of cooperation, concern and resilience demonstrated over the past weeks. This situation is unprecedented, but by working together we will all get through it. I encourage parents to continue to check our district website at www.mcvsd.org for updates.

Contact phone numbers are listed on our site for parents to contact staff to address any concerns.  Please know that I will continue to provide you with information as it becomes available to the district.
